May 24-28
Happy Monday - hope your day went a lot better than our rainy morning at preschool....
This week we are learning about Summer Fun. We will talk about season, summer activities, picnics, the beach and possibly dandelions. Sharing this week will be free choice.
I came into work today hoping for new carpet but as you could see they decided to wait on it until next weekend when they will have 3 days to get it done. Just a reminder we will be closed on May 31st for Memorial Day.
I hope everyone has a great week!

Thank You!!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to our Graduation today. I only had time to take one picture- but I don't have time to post it now. It is always fun to have parents in the classroom with us! The kids were so cute and they did such a good job.
Jill told us yesterday that our carpet came in sooner than expected so there is a good chance we will be getting it this weekend. With that and the new shelves and table we are not even going to recognize our classroom. Please take a minute to stop and let Karen and Jill know what you think of how the class looks. They have put so many hours into it and it is so appreciated. Let them know it if you appreciate it!!
Monday we will start into our Summer curriculum. Basically how the summer works is we have a weekly theme and a Friday Activity. Some of these will require your help and participation. We will be putting out a newsletter in the next week to let you know the dates of these activities and the role we will need you to take. Usually it is something like remembering their swimsuit for water day. I will also try to post weekly about them here. I am getting really excited for June. We are going to spend 3 weeks on Fairy Tales this summer! The unit will culminate in a Fairy Tale Ball where all the kids come to school dressed up as their favorite Fairy Tale Character. I can't wait!!
I also wanted to bid farewell to a couple of you. We are loosing about 7 kids this summer:( We will miss all of you! Thanks for all your support and kindness.

May 17-21
Looks like we won't be getting carpet this weekend :( the order got messed up so we will have to wait. But is really is starting to look cool in our classroom :). This next week we will be practicing for graduation. The whole week will be focused on review and practice. I hope everyone can come and spend an hour with us this Thurs. 20th. We need all the kids there by 9:30 so we can get them all set and in place. The actual ceremony will start at 10. It should be less than an hour so hopefully you can take a break from work and see us.

Pond Pics and a few extra notes.
Here is our Pond week wrap up. I got so busy with the kids this week that I only remembered pictures one day this week but it was quite the day. Teacher Diana braved the pond that she drives by on the way to school and brought us a whole bunch of plants and reed to make into our own pond. First we had to get the dirt for the bottom and then used sticks to build beaver homes and more.
Making dragon flies
Working on our handwriting books
Enjoying books in a snugly spot
Painting our own watercolor ponds
more fun with dragonflies and tape
These two had a ball breaking up sticks to build our pond
Then we got to add water and ducks and bugs. What a fun activity!
Here is Diana taking down our Magic tree house. We got our class painted this weekend. Hopefully we will be able to adapt our new paint job to have a Magic tree house still so we can continue to go on reading adventures with Jack and Annie. I for on will miss it- but such is the life of progress.
For our food project we made frogs on a pond cookies-Delicious
We just wanted to again thank all of you for happily putting up with the chaos and mess that is our classroom right now. So many changes......... But the good news is that they should be doing the carpet this weekend- then we can really dig in and get it done. If you haven't see all the changes don't forget to poke your head in and check them out. I promise it will all be over soon.
Thank you so much for sharing your kids with us. Mothers Day always reminds me how lucky I am to get to have so many extra kids as a part of our School Family.
Graduation is kinda a mess this year because of all the construction and stuff going on but we are still planning on having it Thursday May 20 at 10:00 am you are all invited for a short program and treat. It usually only last an hour so you can get back to work or school.
Have a wonderful week!

Happy Mothers Day to all of you. I hope you all had a wonderful day. We really appreciate you and all that you help us with. Having your support makes all the difference in the world to us.
This week we will be doing our unit on gardens. We will talk about seeds, parts of plants, what plants need to grow and maybe we will be able to start planting some things in our new garden box on the playground.
See you tomorrow

New Afternoon Teacher
For those of you who don't already know last Friday was our afternoon teacher- Bethany's last day. She is headed off for adventures this summer and will be too busy working towards her degree in the fall to return. We have loved Bethany and she will be greatly missed.
So that means a new afternoon teacher. Her name is Kisa-(the i is long) I am pretty sure that is spelled wrong. She has been working in child care for a long time most recently up at the USU lab. She is working on a degree in Early Childhood ed. She will be starting at 2 every day so if you don't see me it is because I will start leaving a little earlier once she is trained. I decided I wanted a little more time with my family this summer :)
It is always exciting to get a new teacher in our classroom- they bring new fun ideas and energy. Make sure you introduce yourself to her. I think she will be GREAT!

This week we will be talking about Pond life. We will learn about what kinds of things live in a pond, the life cycle of a frog and bugs and micro-organisms . Hopefully we will soon be able to get out on the playground. If you are wondering why we still have our snowflakes in the hall..... Diana and I decided that they are gonna stay up until the snow really stops :)... I hope you all are having a great Sunday. See you Tomorrow!
